Symphony 47, the new name of the Local 47 community orchestra formerly called the Senior Symphony, reflects the orchestra's mission of bringing together musicians of all ages and stages to rehearse and play symphony music with retired and semi-retired senior musicians.

Having started back up Oct. 17, 2011 after a years-long hiatus, the Local 47 community symphony is led by conductor Eímear (pronounced 'ee'mer) Noone. A native of Ireland, Noone is former conductor of the Dublin City Concert Orchestra and a regular on podiums of L.A.'s most prestigious recording studios.

The orchestra needs more string players as well as additional union members to join on to the Symphony 47 Board, and is initiating a membership drive to help promote the orchestra. All union musicians will receive union compensation for performances.

Symphony 47 rehearsals take place Mondays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Local 47 Serena Kay and Earl Williams Auditorium. If you have questions, ideas, or just want to connect, feel free to call cellist Dr. Janice Foy, orchestra liason, at (818) 892-8737 or info@bravo-la.com, or email Maestra Noone at eimearnoone@mac.com.
