On August 20, 2025, our Entertainment Union Coalition travelled to Sacramento to deliver a message of thanks to our elected officials that stood with us this year and voted to expand the funding and modernize our California Film and Television Jobs Program.
Each of our state Senators and Assemblymembers that advocated for industry workers, small business and hard working California families in this year’s legislative cycle received a “Keep California Rolling” popcorn box complete with a thank you message from our Entertainment Union Coalition on behalf of our 165,000 members, movie snacks and a powerful “Thank You for Keeping California Rolling” video message from many of our members.

These boxes were well received by elected officials who expressed that while the fight to protect working families never ends, it’s not often a ‘thank you’ message is received. The preservation of these relationships and their connection to our staple industry is what will ensure we continue to make improvements to our program to protect, preserve and grow the work here in California. If you have yet to share your own THANK YOU message, please take a minute to join our letter writing campaign and share a short message of gratitude: bit.ly/399ThankYouCA. It goes a long way, and we will continue to rely on our elected leaders to advocate for our industry.
Just last week, it was reported that the California Film Commission received a 400% increase to applications for television projects seeking the incentive. We expect to hear the official list of approved projects on August 25. Following that announcement will be the next application window for features.
As a reminder, projects are selected based on a jobs ratio meaning the highest rankings go to the projects that provide the most jobs. This is unique to our program here in California, and key to making sure the additional funding and changes result in more work for more members.
Our EUC will continue to monitor the progress of our newly expanded program as well as work collaboratively to hold studios and streamers accountable in our effort to keep film and television work here in California and restore the hope of Hollywood for all of our EUC members.
Stay tuned for more updates from our coalition.
