On the morning of June 26, our modernization bill went before the Senate Rev & Taxation Committee again and was unanimously moved through in preparation for its final votes. We were the only bill heard today, which serves as a testament to the support we have received to move our modernization provisions forth before the July recess.
EUC President Rebecca Rhine and our bill authors Assemblymember Rick Zbur and Senator Ben Allen testified before the committee in strong support. Both Zbur and Allen have been tirelessly pushing our bills through as they understand the impact that both the expansion and modernization of our program has on working industry families to retain and bring back good quality jobs to California.
Rev & Tax committee members also shared comments of support that recognized the talent and work ethic of our members and the importance of supporting the creativity and economic development that our industry brings.
WHAT’S NEXT?
- We expect a vote on the budget trailer bills, which includes the additional funding, either Friday, June 27 or Monday, June 30.
- AB 1138 will go to appropriations next prior to its final vote before the full Assembly & Senate — which at this time we understand will happen next week sometime before the July 4th recess.
Every day brings us closer to the finish line! Stay tuned for more updates.
