Special Enrollment Rights

Federal law – namely the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) — requires the Fund to permit individuals who declined health coverage under the plan, because they had other group health plan or health insurance coverage, to enroll in the plan through special enrollment upon any loss of eligibility for the other coverage or if employer contributions toward the other coverage cease. Bargaining Unit and Ratification Policy Update

The Local 47 Executive Board approved amendments to the Bargaining Unit and Ratification Policy on July 19, 2016, in accordance with the Electronic Voting Resolution passed at the 2016 AFM Convention.

The policy may be found in the members section of the Local 47 website at afm47.org (login required), or from the Secretary’s Office.

ProMusicDB Files Provisional Patent Application on Digital Identity Governance for Music Professionals

This month, ProMusicDB took a big step on behalf of musicians everywhere and filed the platform’s technical specifications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, which describe how ProMusicDB can preserve, protect, and authenticate the digital identity of music creators and musical works in the digital realm.

These technical tasks are accomplished in the form of an artist-contributed, non-profit music credits database and digital archive, to be created by musical artist contribution for the public good, forever. Continue reading →
